The National Association of Neighborhoods is a group of grassroots organizations working to improve economic, social, environmental, health and safety conditions in their neighborhoods.
NAN sponsors a group called United For Jobs (www.unitedforjobs2004.org) whose mission is to combat efforts to improve the environment which may result in the loss of local jobs. They oppose measures which supposedly reduce prosperity, such as pollution control or better fuel economy standards in vehicles, and host local events to protest.
