FACTSHEET: Amy Moritz Ridenour

DETAILS

President and Chairman, The National Center for Public Policy Research
Amy Ridenour was described as a "willing ally" in a 1995 Phillip Morris a company memo. Ridenour had contacted Philip Morris to offer her support against the "current anti-tobacco onslaught." (PR Watch, Volume 7, number 3)

Though NCPPR often accuses environmentalists of basing policy decisions on emotion rather than science, Amy Ridenour once justified her organization's use of fundraising scare tactics: "It's just that you're competing with a lot of other organizations. People seem to respond better to emotion than they do with letters that have lots and lots of facts." (San Francisco Examiner, February 8, 1998) She is a former Deputy Director of the College Republican National Committee and was a Regional Coordinator for Reagan's 1980 Campaign. A. Ridenour is married to NCPPR Vice President David Ridenour.
