U.S. Senator (R-OK)

Chairman, Senate Committee on Environment and Public Works

Sen. Inhofe has fought to keep the US government from accepting the scientific consensus on climate change.

Sen. Inhofe maintains a blog on the minority website of the Environment and Public Works Committee for the senate in which he regularly quotes and cites Climate Change Skeptics and attempts to promote the idea that Global Warming is either bad science or a hoax.

Key Quotes

January 4th, 2005

"As I said on the Senate floor on July 28, 2003, "much of the debate over global warming is predicated on fear, rather than science." I called the threat of catastrophic global warming the "greatest hoax ever perpetrated on the American people," a statement that, to put it mildly, was not viewed kindly by environmental extremists and their elitist organizations." 4 January, 2005 Source: Inhofe Press Release (2006)

"I don't have to tell you about reading the Scriptures, but one of mine that I’ve always enjoyed is Romans 1, 22 and 23. You quit worshipping God and start worshipping the creation -- the creeping things, the four-legged beasts, the birds and all that. That’s their (the environmentalists') god. That’s what they worship. If you read Romans 1:25, it says, ‘and they gave up their God and started worshipping the creation.’ That's what we are looking at now, that’s what’s going on. And we can’t let it happen.

Key Deeds

May 7th, 2004

Inhofe was a co-plaintiff in a lawsuit filed by the Competitive Enterprise Institute in 2000, trying to bar the distribution or use of the National Assessment, which analyzed potential impacts of climate change on the U.S. The Bush administration settled the lawsuit with a statement saying that the report didn't represent official government policy.

Inhofe, through his blog on the minority page of the Environment and Public Works Committee web site published a report listing 400 scientists and quotes they have made that are skeptical of Anthropogenic Global Warming. He claims that this debunks the claim that there is a "consensus" about the science of global warming.
